2PM’s Nichkhun and GOT7’s BamBam Encourage Fans to Donate through Flitto

Two artists from JYP Entertainment, 2PM’s Nichkhun and GOT7’s BamBam, started their month of June with a good message to spread. Through their YouTube videos, they have invited their global fans to make donations to a project that aims to help the Moken children in Thailand.

This fundraising project is the first project that has emerged from the collaboration between the translation platform Flitto and Plan Korea, a nonprofit organization. The aim of the project is to help the Moken children who live in poor conditions and lack the opportunity to get a proper education. The Moken tribe live on the west coast of Thailand and are known to be sea wanderers, which limits them on the opportunity to get educated. What makes this fundraising project different is the fact that people do not have to spend a single amount of money to make donations. They can simply do translations on the Flitto app, earn points, and donate those points to the Moken children project.

Although both Nichkhun and BamBam are mostly active in Korea, they hope that they can make a small contribution to their home country through this small gesture. Through this short video, Nichkhun and BamBam hope to get the support from their global fans to help the people in Thailand who are in need. One of the best parts is that people can make donations under the name of their favorite idols, stars or their name.

In an interview Simon Lee, founder and CEO of Flitto, says that he hopes to bring people who know more than one language together in Flitto to help those who are less able.

Flitto Guide: What is Flitto?

You might have seen many stars mentioning “Flitto” on their twitter account and I’m pretty sure many are thinking “WHAT IS FLITTO?” Well this post is dedicated to those curious minds out there.

WHAT IS FLITTO?

Flitto is a global crowdsourcing translation platform that is used by 3+  million users from around the world. You can easily request translations for text, voice, and image or read a variety of content in your language. Flitto translates Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Weibo news of your favorite stars, fun web comics and fan-arts, or awesome e-commerce deals in your language for FREE!

Flitto currently supports 17 languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Japanese, Korean, Arabic, German, French, Portuguese, Italian, Indonesian, Russian, Hindi, Thai, Vietnamese, and Turkish.

Do you speak more than one language? Great!
Use your awesome language skills to do translations, help other people AND earn points as a reward!
You can also translate your favorite stars’ updates and support them by helping them spread what they say to fans around the world!

So what can I do with my points?
Every time you translate you earn points, which you can:
1. Exchange for money
2. Donate to charity projects
3. Shop for awesome deals online

So what is crowdsourcing?
Crowdsourcing basically means that it is done by the crowd. This means that the translations that you request on Flitto are sent to our 3+ million users around the world, who do the translations for you!

You can learn HOW TO USE FLITTO here.

Your translations in Flitto DO make a difference!

Our Flitto team felt very encouraged today when we saw a translation request by one of our Flitto users saying:

“I just want to say a big THANK YOU to all the english to korean translators. You have been lifesavers. You have helped two adopted sisters reunite with their birth family after 35 years. Thank you so much!”

It feels great to know that Flitto is helping to make a change in the lives of many people. Even though it only takes a few minutes to do one translation, this was a great reminder for all of us and to our Flitto translators that the translations that you make on Flitto DO matter and DO make a difference!

We hope that these words serve as an encouragement to you as well!

translations do matter

Flitto’s new feature: Donation!!

Hello Flitto friends,

Seems like May has been flying like a jet plane and we are already on the verge of spring! Time goes by fast as we are getting busier with everyday routines. Many of us tend to be too focused on “living the moment” and tend to forget about the people who are in need. Are we too busy to help others? Do you find yourself constantly saying that you have no time? We often think that we need to physically be at an actual place to help people or spend our cash to make donations. Our Flitto team, however, thinks otherwise and this is exactly why Flitto has created the new donation feature!

Flitto opened its donation feature today, which lets its users donate their points to charity projects. We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Plan Korea, a regional branch of Plan International last week and has also partnered with GlobalGiving, a charity fundraising website to set off its new donation feature. You can find the feature under the Flitto’s Event tab.

Flitto users can select the fundraising project and choose the amount of points that they want to donate. We currently have two projects, but there are more to come. The two projects are Global Giving’s “Clean Drinking Water for 1250 Villagers in Morocco” and Plan Korea’s “Child Education support Project for the ‘Moken’ of Thailand, Gypsy Sea.” Plan Korea’s project aims to provide children in the area with environmental and educational support and ensure the right to basic education.

Flitto is constantly working on creating various ways to give translators alternative compensations beside the cash incentives, and donation is one of them. Now Flitto also provides people who are fluent in foreign languages the opportunity to use their talents to make a change in society. Do you want to be part of this amazing feature? What are you waiting? Join Flitto and make a change for a better world!

Earn money by translating on Flitto!

There are million of people around the world who are extremely talented and languages, but no one really offers them any compensation for their language skills and this is where Flitto can help you.

If you know more than one language, you can easily do translations through your smartphone (iOS/android) or pc (www.flitto.com), earn points and exchange them for cash! Do translations when you have some extra time in your hands, when you’re taking the bus on your way home, or when you want to practice a language you’re learnign!

A lot of our users do translations on Flitto and exchange them for points. They do such an amazing job that we sometimes wonder if their main job is to be translators on Flitto 😛

Study groups in Flitto

At Flitto, we try to create a company culture that promotes self-development and where everyone can learn, be creative and challenge each other. This is why some of our team members have decided to create “study groups” on topics that interest them.

We have study groups on topics like html, Javascrip, photoshop, python, English, and more! Interested team members join for the study group an hour before work to study and help each other out.

The best part of our study groups is that we get the full support from our company. Books, programs, and even breakfast are provided by Flitto! 😀
